Education Minister Urges Innovation and Reform at CTEVT

The Minister of Education, Science, and Technology and the Chairperson of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), Mr. Mahabir Pun, visited the CTEVT Central Office in Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, on September 25, 2025. He was welcomed by Er. Mahesh Bhattarai, Member Secretary of CTEVT.
During the program organized to welcome the Minister and Chairperson of CTEVT, Member Secretary Bhattarai delivered a brief presentation highlighting the Council’s ongoing activities, major programs for the current fiscal year, best practices, and the future strategic priorities.
In his address, Minister Pun shared that even before assuming the ministerial position, he had visited various CTEVT institutes across different districts, interacted with instructors and students, and observed ground realities. Aiming to strengthen the Council’s effectiveness and relevance, he directed the Council officials to incorporate innovation and emerging technologies into the curricula, present a clear action plan to finalize the affiliation process, implement the academic calendar on schedule, publish examination results within three months, prepare and publicly share a consolidated report based on recommendations and suggestions from various study reports, develop an effective mechanism for addressing grievances, publish monthly progress updates through the Council spokesperson, enhance monitoring to ensure students acquire practical, job-ready skills, and identify the reasons behind low student enrollment in technical education programs and adopt appropriate corrective measures.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Chudamani Poudel, Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST), emphasized the need to make the technical and vocational education and training sector more attractive and impactful. He highlighted the importance of identifying new subject areas based on research, developing and revising curricula, enhancing training quality, ensuring adequate practical sessions, and strengthening monitoring and evaluation system. Secretary Poudel further stressed that successful implementation of the TVET Sector Strategic Plan (2023–2032) would be key to transforming the sector. He called for digitalization of service delivery and record management, integration of the Integrated Training Management System (ITMS) with the Integrated Education Management Information System (IEMIS), and merging of institutes and programs with low enrollment.
Mr. Mahabir Pun was appointed as the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology on September 22, 2025. This was his first inspection visit to the Council’s office since assuming the ministerial position. The program was attended by heads of divisions and offices, project leaders, and CTEVT staff
